Meet the Current Board of BRGS (2024-2025)



PRESIDENT

Jennifer Lindquist, PG, is a licensed Professional Geologist in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas with over 30 years’ environmental experience, conducting research, regulatory compliance and enforcement, planning, coordination, and consulting services on federal and state regulatory compliance issues for numerous government and private clients across several states. Jennifer is Director of Environmental Assessment at Leaaf Environmental. Her professional experience includes serving as Water Quality Standards Coordinator for Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and she served as treasurer of the Louisiana Brownfields Association from 2012 to 2017. Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Geology and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science. Jennifer’s personal interests are in Brownfields redevelopment and sediment quality. 

In accordance with Baton Rouge Geological Society (BRGS) By-Laws, Article V: Duties of Officers, the President shall be presiding officer at all meetings of the Society, shall be cognizant of all acts of the Society and of its officers, shall approve all financial expenditures, shall jointly oversee the finances of the Society in association with the Treasurer, shall appoint all committee chairmen and members and may delegate qualified members to represent the Society on special occasions.

The President shall be able to expend up to $50 per month for legitimate business expenses of the Society without preapproval, with the reimbursement of such expenditures being subject to subsequent approval of a majority of the Board of Directors. No other Society expenditures, save for regular meeting expenses, shall be committed to or made by the Society without the separate advance approval of both the President and the Board of Directors.




VICE PRESIDENT

Robert E. Leslie, Jr., PE, CFM, is a licensed professional engineer and certified floodplain manager, with over thirty years’ professional experience.  Rob has been an avid rockhound since he was eight years old and has accrued about 25,000 billable hours of environmental fieldwork, from subsurface soil and groundwater investigations to hazardous waste site closures.  In 1989, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Texas at Arlington. He then received a Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Tulane in 1991.  A member of BRGS since 2018, Rob is a Senior Engineer II at AtkinsRéalis, a multinational engineering and consulting firm.

In accordance with BRGS By-Laws, Article V: Duties of Officers, the Vice-President shall preside at Society meetings in the absence of the President, and shall assume the duties of the President in the event of the temporary absence of the President. The Vice-President shall be responsible for the program at the regular monthly meetings of the Society. The Vice-President shall become President the year following their election as Vice-President.






PAST PRESIDENT

Jamie Love, PG, is a licensed Professional Geologist in Louisiana.  She has over 16 years’ experience in environmental investigation and remediation.  In 2005 she earned her B.S in Geosciences from the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she focused on natural hazards and geomorphology.  In 2008 she earned her M.S. in Geosciences from Mississippi State University focusing on sediment transport and geomorphology.  She currently works for the Louisiana Department of Energy and Natural Resources where she manages the Groundwater Resources Program and is an integral part of Act 312 (Legacy) review.  She has served as a panel member for multiple hearings. She was previously employed by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.

In accordance with BRGS By-Laws, Article III: Officers, Directors, and Committees, the Past-President Director shall serve for the year following his [or her] term as President.  The two elected Directors and the Past-President Director shall serve on the Board of Directors in an advisory capacity and shall have the right to vote in meetings of the Board of Directors. The President may call on these Directors to perform special administrative functions and to serve on or chair special committees appointed to further the best interests of the Society.




SECRETARY

Lisa M. Pultz, PG, is a licensed Professional Geoscientist/Geologist in Louisiana and Mississippi.  She has over 30 years’ experience with environmental assessment, investigation and remediation projects.  She currently works as a geologist in the Remediation Division of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.  Previously she worked for Hexion Inc. as the Environmental Remediation Leader.  She worked in environmental consulting at IT Corporation/Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure/CB&I from 1992 until 2014.  Lisa graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Geology (1987) and M.S. in Geology (1992). She has been a member of BRGS since 1998 and has served as BRGS Secretary since 2010.  She was instrumental in moving the organization to a web-based platform for managing membership and monthly meetings in 2020. 

In accordance with BRGS By-Laws, Article V: Duties of Officers, the Secretary shall assume the duties of the President in the event of the temporary absence of the President and the Vice-President. The Secretary shall record permanently the minutes of all meetings of the Society and of the Board of Directors and will make those records available on paper on demand and digitally on the BRGS website. The minutes of the meetings of the Society shall include the identity and affiliation of speakers, their biographies, and the abstracts of their presentations and/or copies of the presentations themselves.  The Secretary shall handle all correspondence relative to the affairs of the Society.


TREASURER

Michael Simms, Ph.D., PG, is a hydrogeologist with approximately 40 years’ experience as an environmental geologist in subsurface geologic and hydrogeologic assessment, remediation, and groundwater modeling.  He works in the Industrial Environmental Division at GEC, Inc.  Mike has a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Johns Hopkins University.  He is a professional geologist/geoscientist registered in Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, and Mississippi.  He also is the Vice Chair of the Louisiana Board of Professional Geoscientists.  Mike has been a member of the BRGS since 1985, and he has served as BRGS Treasurer since 2011.

In accordance with BRGS By-Laws, Article V: Duties of Officers, the Treasurer shall assume the duties of President in the temporary absence of the President, Vice President, and Secretary. The Treasurer and the President shall have charge of the financial affairs of the Society. In this connection, the Treasurer shall receive all funds of the Society and shall make all disbursements of funds under the supervision of the President and the Board of Directors.

The Treasurer shall submit a financial report and inventory verbally to the Society and in writing to the Board of Directors at the September, January, and May meetings. The Treasurer will make those records available on paper on demand and digitally on the BRGS website. The Treasurer shall prepare all information returns and/or income tax returns with respect to the year of their term of office required by the United States Internal Revenue Service or State Government. The Treasurer shall submit the Society's books for auditing at the direction of the Board of Directors.


DIRECTOR

Mary Gentry, PG, is a licensed professional geologist in Louisiana with over 30 years’ experience in source water assessment and aquifer evaluation and assessment. She earned a B.S. degree in geology from the University of New Orleans in 1990 and worked for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality from 1991 until she retired in 2024. She immediately returned to LDEQ in a part time position. She also served on the advisory board of the Louisiana Water Resources Research Institute and has served several terms on the BRGS Board of Directors.

DIRECTOR

Jessica Littleton, PG, is a licensed professional geologist in Louisiana with extensive experience focusing in Environmental Policy and Law and is currently employed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as a Federal Program Officer. She earned a B.S. degree in Geology from Louisiana State University in 2018, followed by a M.S. degree in Environmental Geoscience from Mississippi State University in 2020, then a M.J. in Environmental Law from Tulane Law School in 2024. In addition to her ongoing environmental and geological endeavors, she has also been a Registered Respiratory Therapist since 2009 and continues this role as a practitioner, as needed. Jessica has served one term as a Board Member for BRGS.

TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR

Brittany George is a geologist at the Louisiana Department of Energy and Natural Resources, Injection and Mining division where she helps regulate underground solution mining and storage in salt caverns. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Orleans in Geosciences, and she studied for a Master of Science in Sedimentology at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. She has been a member of BRGS for two years, and in 2024, presented for one of BRGS’s monthly luncheon meetings, “Mining and Storing Product in Louisiana Salt Caverns: A Regulator's Perspective,” an informative breakdown of the regulatory process for storage well operators.

In accordance with BRGS By-Laws, Article V:  Duties of Officers, the Technology Director shall be responsible for virtual presentations of the Society’s regular meetings and for the content and maintenance of the Society’s website.
